• Ensuring your tracking service delivery reports reach the correct Local Ward Leader using location data

• Displaying ward-level leaderboards and local community sponsor advertising
• Enabling Google AdMob to create cross-app advertising profiles for personalized ads across multiple applications

1. User Obligations:

• Obtain a municipal reference number before logging a Service Delivery Tracking issue in the app.
• Do not submit illegal, defamatory, fraudulent, or harmful content.
• Respect privacy and comply with applicable laws.

2. Points, Leaderboards & Rewards:
• Points are for community engagement and may be reset or revoked for abuse.
• Rewards (badges, recognition, or prizes) are discretionary and can change without notice.
• Fraudulent use or abuse of the system will result in point forfeiture and potential account suspension.

3. Liability & Jurisdiction:
• My Street Champion facilitates Service Delivery tracking reporting but does not guarantee service delivery.
• We are not responsible for Public Service Team delays, inaction, or damages arising from app use.

1. Introduction

This End User License Agreement (EULA) and Terms and Conditions(“Agreement”) is a legal contract between you (“User”, “you”, “your”) and My Street Champion (Pty) Ltd (“MSC”, “we”, “us”, “our”), governing your use of the My Street Champion mobile application, website, and related services (collectively referred to as “the Platform”).

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the Platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Agreement.

If you do not agree, do not install, access, or use the Platform.

2. License Grant

Subject to the terms of this Agreement, MSC grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Platform for personal, non-commercial purposes, solely in accordance with this Agreement.

3. Restrictions

You may not:

• Copy, modify, adapt, reverse engineer, or attempt to extract source code from the Platform.

• Sell, distribute, sublicense, or otherwise commercialise the Platform without written permission.

• Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable laws.

• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent reports.

• Engage in any activity that compromises the integrity, security, or performance of the Platform.

4. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

• Provide accurate and truthful information when registering or submitting service delivery tracking reports.

• First report municipal service issues directly to your municipality and obtain an official reference number before submitting to the Platform.

• Use the Platform in a respectful and constructive manner.

• Maintain the confidentiality of your login credentials.

5. Data Collection & Privacy

Your use of the Platform is subject to our Privacy Policy and POPIA Compliance Statement, which forms part of this Agreement.
You consent to the collection, processing, and use of your personal and incident-related information as outlined in our Privacy Policy.

6. Ownership of Data & Intellectual Property

• All intellectual property rights in the Platform, including but not limited to software, design, trademarks, content, and data, remain the exclusive property of MSC.

• All aggregated, anonymised, or statistical data generated through the Platform is the sole property of MSC and may be used for marketing, research, advocacy, and service improvement purposes.

7. Local Ward Leader & Public Service Team Engagement

The Platform facilitates communication between Users, Local Ward Leaders, and Public Service Teams but does not guarantee that reported issues will be resolved. MSC is not responsible for the actions or inactions of public or private entities or contractors.

8. Points, Rewards & Competitions

• Points are earned through verified activity such as reporting service delivery tracking, verifying, and escalating service delivery issues.

• Fraudulent activity (including false reporting or duplicate submissions) may result in forfeiture of points and suspension of your account.

• Competitions and rewards are governed by separate Competition Rules published from time to time.

9. Termination

MSC may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time if:

• You breach this Agreement;

• You engage in fraudulent or harmful activity;

• We are required to do so by law or court order.

You may terminate this Agreement by ceasing to use the Platform and deleting the application from your devices.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• MSC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform.

• MSC makes no warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of information displayed on the Platform.

• MSC does not guarantee uninterrupted access or that the Platform will be free of errors or viruses.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MSC, its directors, employees, contractors, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, or expenses arising from:

• Your use of the Platform;

• Your breach of this Agreement;

• Your violation of any applicable laws.

12. Modifications to Agreement

We reserve the right to update or amend this Agreement at any time. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

13. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

This Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa, with exclusive jurisdiction in the courts of KwaZulu-Natal.

15. Entire Agreement

• To show ward-specific local community sponsor advertisements
• To enable Google AdMob to create cross-app advertising profiles for personalized ads
• To provide premium ad-free experience for paying members
To automatically scan uploaded images for inappropriate content and policy compliance
To maintain community safety standards and prevent harmful content
To enforce content policies and manage user violations
• To analyse trends and improve service delivery tracking

7. Data Retention

• Account information: until deletion request
• Crash logs & diagnostics: 24 months (standard Firebase retention)
• Advertising data: 24 months or until consent withdrawal
Image moderation logs: 24 months for security and compliance purposes
• Anonymised data: may be retained indefinitely for historical and research purposes

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures, including:
• Encrypted data storage
• Secure HTTPS transmission
• Role-based access control for staff
• Regular security audits
Automated content moderation to prevent inappropriate image uploads

However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and you use the platform at your own risk.

9. Cookies & Tracking

Our website may use cookies for analytics, performance tracking, and to improve user experience. In the mobile app, we use Google advertising IDs and Firebase Installation IDs for analytics and community-targeted advertising.

Cross-App Tracking Details:
• All AdMob-enabled apps share the same advertising identifier from your device
• This allows Google to connect your behavior across different apps
• Example: Reporting a pothole in our app may influence hardware store ads in other apps
• This tracking can be disabled through iOS App Tracking Transparency controls

You can manage cookie preferences via your browser and advertising preferences within the app settings.

10. Children’s Privacy

The app is not intended for children under the age of 16 without parental consent.

11. International Data Transfers

Your data may be stored or processed outside South Africa but will remain subject to POPIA-compliant protections. Firebase and Google services may process data in the EU and US under appropriate safeguards and adequacy decisions.

We partner with local businesses and Google AdMob to provide relevant, community-appropriate advertising that supports our platform development.

How Advertising Works:
• Ward-targeted ads: Local businesses can advertise specifically in their service areas
• Community sponsors: Hardware stores, restaurants, and local services relevant to your ward
• Google AdMob integration: Cross-app advertising profiles that link your behavior across apps
• Revenue model: Advertising revenue supports free app access for the community

App Tracking Transparency (iOS):
• iOS users receive a tracking consent prompt upon first app use
• You can choose to allow or deny cross-app tracking
• Denying tracking limits ad personalization but doesn’t affect app functionality
• You can change this setting anytime in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking

Your Advertising Controls:
• Personalization settings: Control ad targeting preferences
• iOS Tracking Controls: Disable cross-app advertising profiles
• Report inappropriate content: Help maintain community standards

  2. Managed deletions: Individual fault report photos and old reports
  3. Account deletion: Full 90-day deletion process with Public Service Teams compliance review
